Description
Minimum qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience building, testing, and maintaining distributed backend systems or micro services in production.
- Experience with data structures, algorithms, and concurrency, and experience programming in one or more general-purpose languages (e.g., Go, C , Java, Python).
- Experience in Software Architecture, Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, and DevOps
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Technical lead experience working with 3 or more engineers across organizations.
- Experience with Go, gRPC, Spanner, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will drive the technical outlook and architecture for GCP's core API Platform. You'll lead the design and development of highly scalable, available, and performant global backend systems, making critical architectural decisions to ensure robustness and low latency. Advocating reliability best practices, you will instill comprehensive testing, monitoring, and automated recovery mechanisms. You will lead performance optimization efforts, mentor engineers, and set high technical standards through design and code reviews. Collaborating across foundational cloud teams, you will advocate the safe integration and deployment of new capabilities, handling complex and ambiguous problems to shape the future of our producer platform.Google Cloud accelerates every organization's ability to digitally transform its business and industry. Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex, highly available, and fault-tolerant backend systems responsible for consistent state distribution and API management globally.
- Advocate and instill best practices for system reliability, including comprehensive testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end, chaos engineering), robust monitoring, and effective alerting.
- Lead and guide technical discussions, including design reviews, code reviews, setting a high bar for engineering quality and best practices. Influence technical direction and standards across the team and within the broader Producer Foundations organization.
- Negotiate and align on technical designs and integration points with partner teams, ensuring seamless end-to-end functionality and reliability.
- Scope and break down large, ambiguous problems into manageable pieces, driving solutions from conception to production.
