About the job
The Migration Conversion Team is looking for a Software Developer (Emerging Careers) to help move SAS9 objects over to Viya 4. We encourage you to join our team if you enjoy learning new things and working on something that is different. We currently have two teams, one that works on a UI/UX and one that works on a conversion service that is continually updated as we move objects over to the target application UI. This work is critical to SAS being successfully in getting our customers off our older SAS-9 system and moved to Viya4 (cloud).
As a Software Developer (Emerging Careers), you will:
- Develop and support robust quality engineering solutions at every layer of the software development life cycle.
- Empower your team to continuously deliver enterprise grade software to production by engineering quality into the continuous delivery pipeline.
- Create and maintain the highest quality of Rest APIs, using modern development techniques, and provide key data points to support metrics-based decision making.
- Capitalize upon your creativity by developing innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Produce key data that illustrates the quality of applications and develops insight that drive the direction of quality engineering.
- Work with your team to promptly triage test failures with precision and accuracy, maintaining the health of the build pipeline.
- Work collaboratively with development, product, operations, and support peers to encourage quality.
- Challenge the status quo every day and never stop improving quality engineering practices.
- Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.

Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
- 2-5 years of demonstratable programming experience as a software developer
- Prior experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, Typescript, React or Go
- Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

- Demonstrated proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Java, Go, Rest APIs, and Groovy,
- Proficient with source control management techniques (Git, GitHub) including branching, code review, and merging.
