The Role and Impact
Join Intel as a Physical Design Engineering Intern and contribute to the cutting-edge development of silicon technologies that power the future. In this role, you will be immersed in the physical design flow, learning and working alongside experts to tackle challenging problems and optimize designs for manufacturability and performance. Your contributions will directly impact Intel's ability to deliver innovative, high-quality products to market, allowing you to leave a mark on the technology landscape while gaining valuable hands-on experience in an environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support physical design implementation activities, including synthesis, place-and-route, and timing analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize power, performance, and area (PPA) metrics for silicon designs.
- Conduct quality checks and analysis to ensure designs meet Intel's stringent standards of manufacturability and reliability.
- Assist with verification and signoff activities, ensuring compliance with performance and operational requirements.
- Explore and employ design scalability and automation techniques to streamline workflows.
- Participate in projects and initiatives that contribute to Intel's business goals, gaining exposure to real-world challenges in a dynamic environment.
- Build foundational skills in physical design engineering by engaging in hands-on problem-solving and design optimization tasks.
Qualifications:
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your degree, research and or relevant previous job and or internship experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a Master's program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of physical design methodologies, including synthesis, place-and-route, and timing analysis.
- Proficiency in design optimization techniques and power reduction strategies for physical design.
- Experience with quality checks and analysis tools used in the silicon design process.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address technical challenges efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with cross-functional collaboration in complex engineering projects.
- Interest in developing scalable and automated design workflows.
- Eagerness to learn and apply advanced techniques in physical design.
- Passion for contributing to innovative technologies that shape the future.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $89,200.00-120,700.00 USD
The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Our standard internship rates are based on your degree, location, and the job role.
