• 8 years of experience in software development.
  
• 5 years of experience with Kubernetes, focusing on large-scale systems development.
• 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  
• Experience coding in Go.
• Experience with the architecture, core services, and operation of public cloud platforms.

The Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) team is focused on extending Google Cloud's capabilities and services into specialized customer environments. In this role, you will have a ground-up product building opportunity to own the foundational Kubernetes cluster platform. This platform will provide a secure, resilient, and high-performance execution environment for all customer workloads, supporting the product's entire portfolio, including air-gapped, connected, and software-only deployments.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Define the technical goals and roadmap for the air-gapped GDC platform to maximize user predictability and reliability.
• Lead architectural simplification efforts to eliminate systemic chaos and stabilize core infrastructure components.
• Design and implement critical, high-impact features for the core Kubernetes execution environment within stringent air-gapped constraints.
• Drive technical alignment and decision-making across partner teams to unblock GDC's ability to deploy successfully.
• Elevate engineering standards and mentor executive staff to ensure delivery of production-ready distributed systems.
