Description
Minimum qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in coding with TypeScript.
- 2 year of experience with front-end development.
- 2 years of experience with spanner.
- 2 years of experience with large-scale distributed systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- 2 years of experience with database internals, database language theories, database design, SQL.
- 2 years of experience working with two or more from the following: web application development, Unix/Linux environments, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, networking, developing large software systems, or security software development.
- Experience in Python, Java or other programming languages.
About the jobThe Twister team develops software to optimize the design, planning, deployment, and decommissioning of cluster layouts for Google data centers. Our fleet consumes as much power as the entire city of San Francisco, so we're managing a number of fun, open-ended, and testing problems to optimize rack placement, reduce our environmental impact, and save Google money. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn and work with the latest and greatest Graphics Processing Units (GPU) and Tensor Processing Units (TPU), which are utilized for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) workloads. You will be responsible for efficiently deploying these resources in the optimal configuration for our customers across various Product Areas (e.g., YouTube, Search, Advertising, etc.) at Alphabet and for all our external customers supported by Google Cloud. Additionally, you will use AI to automate rack placement at Google's data centers.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities
- Build software simulations to clearly articulate the feasible deployments of AI and ML racks across each and every data center controlled by Google.
- Drive long-term software architecture and design to maintain our software code quality and health.
- Propose, design, and develop new functionality to create an automation system for Google's supply chain and data center deployments.
- Influence, review, and represent our team on new data center hardware and software design proposals.
- Leverage AI to improve simulation automation and reduce turnaround times.
