About the job
The Platform Products division is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to join a team of talented engineers working collaboratively to ideate and deliver a cutting edge, innovative product. This interactive analytics and modeling team is responsible for implementing a point and click interface for statistical and machine learning models in SAS Visual Analytics, incorporating cutting edge algorithms and Generative AI capabilities throughout. You will make an impact on how customers experience our software and play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our products exceed their expectations.
As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will:
- Support internal teams in their creation of new features, helping them build quality into the product from the ground up
- Set testing strategy to check functionality and validate numerical output
- Create and maintain a high quality of test automation using modern development techniques and provide key data points to support metrics-based decision making
- Produce and analyze metrics that illustrate the quality of applications and develop insight that drives the direction of quality engineering
- Work with team to promptly triage test failures with precision and accuracy, maintaining the health of the build pipeline
- Work collaboratively with development, product, operations, and support peers to encourage quality, as a key design element in all work efforts
- Engage in code reviews for product, test, and infrastructure code
- Understand the role of deployment, migration, security, and performance in the continuous delivery lifecycle
- Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.
- Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, preferably Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- 5 years of programming experience in Python and/or Typescript
- Fluent in state-of-the-art techniques, standards, procedures, and frameworks for software test development, e.g. Playwright
- Experience working with predictive analytics
- Demonstrated ability to distinguish between testing layers, match the correct approach to each situation, and design effective quality gates based on these layers
- Proficient with source control management techniques including branching, code review, and merging.
- Proficiency authoring and maintaining Dockerfiles.
- Understanding of Kubernetes components and cloud provider offerings (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- Experience with the SAS system or other statistical software products
- Experience using an IDE, e.g. VS Code or IntelliJ
