Description
Minimum qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering and design principles including but not limited to experience in production, sheet metal, castings, injection molding, structural analysis, and thermal analysis.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in designing electro-mechanical assemblies with an understanding of mechanical tolerances from chip to data center scale, tolerance stackup analysis, quick connect/disconnect technologies and mechanisms.
- Experience developing products with high speed signal, power, and cooling interconnects.
- Experience in the mechanical design and engineering of high density, high component count Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) assemblies.
- Knowledge of ASIC cooling solution stack-ups, their structural behavior, and reliability.

As a Senior Mechanical Product Design Engineer, you will design and evaluate our data center systems, identify product requirements, and contribute to research and project planning. From the chip to chiller, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing products within our architecture that will change and scale with Google's continued growth. With your technical expertise, you will lead and manage engineering design decisions, perform detailed design and analysis, develop product and process improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional team members to build innovative solutions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Own and design products over the entire product design life cycle including requirements gathering, concept generation, detailed design with analysis, cross-functional reviews, verification testing, manufacturing release, and sustaining.
- Ensure designs are fundamentally sound, scalable, robust, and meet engineering requirements backed by thorough engineering analysis and product validation through developing test plans, performing testing ensuring designs. Troubleshoot, root cause, and resolve technical challenges that arise throughout the product development life-cycle.
- Influence and shape future products by providing mechanical and product design engineering expertise into the technology roadmap with data-driven decisions.
- Identify and scope projects around innovation opportunities as well as technology risks.
- Provide engineering knowledge and mentor team members in areas of expertise.
