Salesforce Developer
Office hybrid in Indianapolis, IN
The Salesforce Digital Technology (DET) team is looking for a full-stack Member of Technical Staff (MTS) to join our agentic development team. You will be at the forefront of the AI revolution, building autonomous agents using Agentforce, CRM Platform and Data Cloud. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will write code daily, build "tools" for AI agents, and ensure our generative AI solutions are grounded, secure, and scalable.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement autonomous agents and sub-agents using Agentforce, focusing on complex reasoning paths and multi-step orchestration.
- Build and optimize "Tools" for agents using Apex Actions, Flows, and External Services to allow AI to interact with Salesforce and 3rd-party systems
- Develop, test, and version-control system prompts; utilize Prompt Builder to create dynamic, grounded templates
- Build and optimize prompts and LLM interactions to improve Agent performance, accuracy, and scalability.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and cross-functional AI teams.
- Implement monitoring and exception handling for agent workflows.
- Work on document ingestion pipelines, Data Cloud integrations, and content processing to feed AI models and agents.
- Conduct experiments, A/B testing, and prompt tuning to continuously improve agent behavior and outcomes.
- Develop comprehensive unit and functional test cases; maintain high code coverage standards; perform integration and smoke testing before deployment
- Contribute to architecture, design, and best practices for AI-enabled agent systems, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Deep dive into existing agents to troubleshoot production issues; identify and implement performance optimizations
- Drive innovation in agent experiences while evaluating new AI and generative technologies to enhance the overall platform.
- Keep up with Salesforce releases, emerging technologies, and recommend agent improvements.
- Use the Agent Debugger and monitoring tools to trace agent reasoning, identify "hallucinations," and optimize for accuracy and performance.
- Design and implement Data Cloud DMOs (Data Model Objects) and Calculated Insights to provide high-fidelity grounding data for Agents.
- Implement the Einstein Trust Layer to manage PII masking, toxicity filtering, and data governance.
Required Experience:
- 3+ years of professional Software Engineering experience in a SaaS environment
- Expert-level Apex, LWC, and SOQL/SOSL. Deep understanding of Governor Limits and multi-tenant architecture.
- Full-stack development skills (backend & frontend), including JAVA/APEX, LWC, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Advanced proficiency in Salesforce Flow (the primary engine for Agentforce actions)
- Strong foundation in object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, software architecture, and test-driven development
- Expert in Salesforce SOQL, SOSL, DML operations, governor limits, Sales Cloud, and Service Cloud
- Experience with automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Selenium) and maintaining code coverage standards
- Proven experience with REST/SOAP APIs, Event-Driven Architecture (Platform Events, CDC), and JSON handling
- Proficiency with SFDX, Git-based version control, and automated testing frameworks (Jest, JUnit, Selenium)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to debug complex issues.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology and full SDLC ownership.
- Solid understanding of MVC framework, OO design principles, and building maintainable, high-quality solutions.
- Deep understanding of asynchronous Apex (Queueable, Batch, Future) and Platform Events, as Agent actions often run outside the standard request-response cycle.
- A related technical degree required
Desired Experience:
- Hands-on experience with Agentforce, Prompt Builder, Prompt Engineering.
- Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud, including data mapping, identity resolution, and vector database concepts.
- Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and how to ground LLMs with structured and unstructured data.
- Knowledge of the evolving LLM landscape (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, Gemini) and prompt optimization techniques
- Experience supporting global rollouts of agent solutions and scaling across multiple regions.
- Salesforce certifications or equivalent expertise in AI-enhanced CRM solutions
- Experience with SaaS/PaaS architectures and large-scale enterprise agent implementations.
- Experience with Salesforce DX, scratch orgs, and CLI tools
- Experience with managed packages, unlocked packages, or AppExchange development
- Salesforce administrator and Salesforce platform developer 1 certification is preferred
