About the job
Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.
In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, integrating, and testing electronic systems. You will ensure the functionality and performance of hardware, software, and networking components by performing hardware installations to defined configurations, and running software to perform system calibrations. You will also be responsible for conducting comprehensive electrical tests, diagnosing and resolving issues, and maintaining accurate records. You will interpret technical documentation to support the development and deployment of advanced electronic systems.
The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.
