We are seeking an AI professional with strong mainframe expertise to design, develop, and deploy AI-driven solutions that modernize and enhance legacy applications. This role bridges traditional mainframe environments with modern AI/ML technologies, enabling automation, intelligent insights, and scalable transformation of mission-critical systems.
The ideal candidate combines hands-on experience with AI/ML models and tools and a deep understanding of mainframe operations, data structures, and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI/ML solutions to modernize, optimize, and automate mainframe-based applications and processes
- Analyze mainframe data sources (VSAM, DB2, flat files, logs, batch jobs) and prepare them for AI/ML consumption
- Develop models for use cases such as code modernization, anomaly detection, predictive operations, intelligent automation, and decision support
- Integrate AI solutions with mainframe platforms and distributed/cloud environments
- Build and maintain automation frameworks for data pipelines, model training, deployment, and monitoring
- Collaborate with mainframe engineers, application teams, and business stakeholders to translate legacy requirements into AI-enabled capabilities
- Ensure solutions meet performance, reliability, security, and compliance standards typical of mainframe environments
- Contribute to architectural decisions, best practices, and documentation for AI-led modernization initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
- Strong hands-on experience with AI/ML concepts, models, and frameworks (e.g., machine learning, deep learning, NLP, generative AI)
- Proficiency with AI/ML tools and libraries (such as Python-based frameworks, model training and deployment tools)
- Solid understanding of mainframe systems, including:
- z/OS architecture and operations
- COBOL, PL/I, JCL, or assembler (working knowledge)
- DB2, VSAM, batch processing, and transaction processing concepts
- Experience working with large-scale enterprise data and complex legacy systems
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying AI to legacy application modernization or refactoring
- Familiarity with MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks
- Exposure to cloud or hybrid architectures integrated with mainframe systems
- Knowledge of AIOps, intelligent monitoring, or operational analytics
- Experience with model governance, explainability, and responsible AI in enterprise environments
- Experience with AWS Cloud Platform
Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $92,800 - $172,500.
Full-time hires are eligible to participate in the DXC benefit program.
